Top Attractions in Gasa

Gasa district is one of the north western district which shares border with China. It was formerly a Dungkhag (Sub-District) of the Punakha District which later became a separate district in 1992. Gasa has become a tourist destination mainly because of its environmental beauty with pristine forest and winter snow falls and the location of its fortress. Gasa Dzong was often referred as the land of black smith. Gasa is famous for its Layap People and natural hot spring and trekking such as Snowman trek (one of the most difficult and challenging treks in the world). It lies at an altitude of 2850m.
