I cannot imagine anyone else for a trip to bhutan. Sonam and Beautiful Escape to Happiness is not only incredibly well organized, but extremely kind and knowledgeable. I’m fortunate to have traveled to many places in my life and I usually seek the help of local guidance, so that I can get the most out of my experience. I have had some very good guides but none offer the level of service and knowledge of Sonam. There were no questions left unanswered and the love of his work and knowledge, shows so well in his personality. We are putting together a custom trip for next year and he will absolutely set it up and I will not question any of his decisions. Impeccable! It revealed new layers of joy and peace within me that I never knew existed. A huge part of this experience was thanks to our wonderful guides – Sonam Tobgay and Hem Rajh. Thanks to their guidance, I was able to see Bhutan in all its beauty. Every single day I felt completely cared for, without a single worry in mind. Their charisma, warmth, and genuine kindness made me feel at home, even though I was thousands of miles away from it. They didn’t just show us Bhutan – they shared it with us, from the heart. This journey was filled with happiness, gratitude, and deep tranquility. I felt as if I had stepped into another dimension – time seemed to slow down, and I savored every moment. We explored so many incredible places – from temples and historical sites to breathtaking natural landscapes. The trip included both exciting adventures like rafting and meaningful encounters with local people. And since we missed the country’s most famous festival, the festival actually came to us – just for our little group! I can’t forget to mention our amazing driver, who safely and patiently took us everywhere – sometimes through real challenges – so we could reach the most beautiful corners of the country. I had visited Bhutan once before with a large group, but this time I returned with my niece for something more intimate and spiritually rich—off the beaten path, physically active, and soulfully restorative. From the moment Sonam met us at the airport, we knew this trip was curated just for us. He remembered from my first visit that I’d longed to stop by the river between Paro and Thimphu—so he surprised us with tea, snacks, chairs by the water, and a riverside blessing from his dear friend, a Buddhist monk. That set the tone: personal, thoughtful, unforgettable. Every day unfolded beautifully: meditating in sacred caves, whitewater rafting, hiking through forests, sunrise breakfast at Chelela Pass, teaching in a local primary school, even doing handstands in the Phobjikha Valley. One unforgettable morning we shared breakfast with a group of Buddhist nuns—simple, beautiful, and full of quiet joy. We traveled widely—from Paro and Thimphu to the serene heights of Ogyen Choling in Bumthang (a place that continues to live in my heart), to the warm hills of Tsirang. This journey with my niece is a memory I’ll always treasure. This was more than a trip—it was a growth experience. We learned there is no ground… and we lived among the clouds. Just returned from a wonderful 10-day trip in Bhutan led by the team at Beautiful Escape to Happiness, helmed by #felixbhutantoby. They are experienced, trustworthy, and fun guides, who did a terrific job with all aspects of our trip-- from visas and hotel arrangements to explaining the religious and cultural significance of the sites we visited.
